car is sputtering and back firing. PLEASE HELP.
i have a head and camed 01 ws6. i just got my car back from the trans shop and it will not run. when i try to drive it it spudders and back fires. i looked at the plugs and they were black as hell. i put new plugs in and in only two min of idle time they were black again.(running rich)when the car was tuned my a/f was 10.9. the car will drive fine for 20sec then the missing and sputtering will start. i changed the iat sensor and the coolent sansor(i was told this could make the car run rich if one was bad, this did not help.the car is not throwing any check codes. my car has only 20,000mi on it so sensors should all be good. the trans shop did disconnect my battery for two days. last winter i disconnected my battery all winter and all was fine. i'm stuck on what to do next,ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. thanks, mike c.

my car started to throw a code #0507. i don't have a auto tap the guy at the trans shop used his tool to see the code. the idle on my car is going high then low, high and low it's not sitting on 950rpm's like it's tuned to do. my car is not throwing a code anymore but it's still has a up and down idle and sputtering. the car will run normal when you floor the gas,it seems to have no problems then. and for the smart ***,no i'm not going to drive around with it floored all day.lol thanks, mike c.

It may just be the car was not that well tuned, and was
getting by on learned fuel trims and learned idle (which
went out the window with battery disconnect). How
long has the problem been going on? I would expect idle
and fuel trimming in the more commonly exercised areas
to tighten up in one or two days' normal driving.
Would not hurt to inspect for tranny shop "oopses",
like the crank position sensor (down by the starter)
getting unplugged, etc.
Code 507 is high idle and this could be from some
vacuum leak; vacuum leaks that affect a single
cylinder can put the rest rich as the PCM tries to
hold a "compromise" stoich mixture.
