PCM locking, and refuse to give your money to anyone
who locks you out of your own computer.
Some locking methods are more resistant than others
but none deserve your business.
after I sent it into 'distress' mode.

). We didn't help you unlock the PCM, since it wasn't locked in the first place. And as you discovered, our editor will not let you open the file you read from the PCM due to it failing the various file consistency checks we make. Also, your intention was to actually overwrite it with a stock image, which is what you did using our "Rewrite Entire VCM" feature
Cheers,
Chris...
thanks

In my dictionary, locked = inaccessible
The 'tune' in my 4 year old Ed Wright VCM was no longer useable
by me, as my car has changed so much, [gearing, tire diameter,ect.].
I couldn't look at, or change the Ed Wright 'tune' with my LS1Edit or
my HHP3.
I had me an electronic paper-weight.
HPTuner made my spare VCM 'accessible' to me.
Hmmm,
HPTuner DID 'unlock' my VCM.
HPTuner DIDN"T 'unlock' my Ed Wright 'tune'.
I WIN...
I now have a spare VCM to work with...
Soft-lock ?? = Ed Wright 'tuner-locked' VCM
Hard-lock ?? = LS1Edit 'tuner-locked' VCM

Unlocked + invalid checksums = Ed Wright 'tuner-locked' VCM
Unlocked + LS1edit only relevant file changes = LS1Edit 'tuner-locked' VCM
We don't automatically correct checksums or load binaries with incorrect checksums. They are there for a reason. We figure if your smart enought to make hex changes to a binary, then you're smart enough to correct the checksums yourself.
The LS1edit lock only stops other LS1edit users, we've had tuners who switched from LS1edit to our s/w test this and can read/write "locked" PCM's no probs.
HTH.
