Default the ABS Inop/ Brake light

i know its common when putting on welds, because of the different size front to back wheels. I did a search nd found several cases of this probelm. But never found a solution..

is there any adjustments that can be made through tunning to correct this problem?

thanks,
cmm

The ABS INOP and BRAKE lights are controled by the ABS unit. It is a masked ROM part and the programming can not be changed.

had that problem on my truck. hptuners will be working on the issue, probably not to soon though. what you can do is get someone with a tech 2 to change the ABS module for the correct tire size. that is what i did for my truck, 35" tires. not sure if it would work, but if your height has changed the abs module freaks out sometimes. hope this helps.

The f-body ABS/TCS units from 98-02 are made by Bosch and it is not possible to change any of the programming. The only way that could be done is to have a developement ECU that can be reprogrammed. I work at Bosch in the s/w braking group and I can't even find an f-body developement ECU.

Best advice is to keep all wheels the same size and perferably within 3% of stock rolling diameter to retain good performance.

Why not just add a DRAC between the back ABS sensor and the module and calibrate it yourself? Cheap, easy fix.

You can't change the programming in the ABS unit as stated. If you were able to create a circuit to translate/ correct the signal before entering the ABS unit, you could fake it into believing everything was fine. Of course, you need to take into account the circuitry that detects opens and shorts in the wheel speed sensors. I also do not know how doing something like this would affect the braking performance.
