as stated before I wouldn't want anyone touching my stuff after reviewing some of these tunes. after seeing what Mr. Wright did for me three years ago I feel like some tuners are the biggest scammers in the industry.
Amen!!!

I would love to hear some of their reasoning for doing things the way they do.

Thats right, if it can be done in an hour and 8 dyno runs without taking it on the road, it must be right.

one kid around my parts just got a STS kit and the local tuner had HIM buy LS1Edit and ATap so the "tuner" can tweak it on his dyno. LOL I can't wait to see what that one looks like. I told the kid to return everything if he can because its gonna cost him over a grand just for the LS1Edit software, scanner, dyno time and tune and it still won't be right. Not only that, the poor kid is stuck with LS1Edit when there is are so many alternatives out there. The "tuner" then told him that if he has any issues after the tune that he can just call him up and he'll tell the kid what to "change" over the phone

Nothing like having a newbie blindly making changes to a boosted application

That has to be the worst advice I have ever heard. Poor boy might as well have a mail order tune. The tuner needs to be shot.

hehe, funny how freely the word "tuner" is used.

We've got a local shop that can "tune anything", what a bunch of naive fools.

last I talked to him he already got Edit and opened it. I think I depressed him though after ranting on about how he's getting ripped because I haven't heard from him since. I'm gonna try and help him as much as I can though, I'd hate to see him kill the car.
It's a nice lookin '01 SS too!

Thats what this shop is like. First they just specailized in Stangs, then anything domestic, and now their installing a AWD dyno and doing imports too.

Some people are stuck in the carb and obdI days, things have changed.

My theory is if I mess it up, its my fault and I can't blame anyone. That is why I like to do it myself now. Not to mention, its a wonderful learning process.

I have attached my VE map for my 00 T/A with bolt ons (i.e. TR headers, TSP X, LS6, ported TB etc etc etc.). I just did this today in fact so I am still getting things dialed in.

I haven't smoothed it out yet, thinking about writting an algorithm to handle that portion though. Also help fill in some of the dead spots.

FWIW

You've got some serious smoothing out to do!

Did you record your AFR from cold start?

I tested both cold start and hot start AFR readings around idle and they were both different. I don't know of the PCM was doing any kind of "learning" since this was the first time I started trying to dial in the VE table but it was extremely lean around 16:1. It eventually settled to about 14:X. The graphs I posted are the differences between the stock VE on two different runs. It looks similar to what you have in the low range.

I am still not sure if I should start trying to record and dial my VE in during cold starts. I am going to try and reproduce the same resultes if I can.

If your air injection is still hooked up you may be seeing the effects of it when you first start the engine.

I would dial in it at full operating temp this way you wont be figitng againt chages in the weather on mornings when its 50* out or in the noon when its 80* out. Full op temp removes this variable

Here's a couple for y'all! Wideband SD Tuning, right before MAF recalibration... Full Bolt-on, TR 230/224 Cam... I gotta say, driving is quite nice! Made the same dyno #s on this tune as shown in sig!
