Hey guys I wanna get HP tuner for my car in the spring. Is there anything I can read or mess around with that will help me learn it now? I would like to learn as much as I can now so when i get it I might have a slight ideal what to do with it.

Thanks

Download their manual from their website. And read the forum where one guy posted a newbie guide. That should help some.

Earlier in this thread Chris said more than 1 month but less than 3. We are only one day from March so I am thinking...

But that is just hearsay.

This may be a really dumb question... so I'll just ask it here instead of starting another thread

If I was to go in with a friend and order HPTuners with Enhanced I/O Interface for my '99 T/A and his '98 Z, would I receive two cables / install discs or just one between the two? I'm going to be ordering once the USB option is released but curious as to if I'll have to drive 122 miles back home to my buds place to let him use the cable

You'd receive one set of hardware/software with the capability to tune both '98 & '99 F-bodies.

My support ends mid-May, and I expect to be renewing to insure I get 2.0. I can't imagine the cost to upgrade to 2.0 out of the support period will be less than $99.

Guys all you have to get is one of these if you only have USB

http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/def...Type=alternate

I had to get one to hook my laptop into a few of my routers and they work great, they sell them at Best Buy and Circuit city too for like 10 bucs.

Form what I have seen, it's not a very stable connection with one of those.

I use one similar to that and it seems to work just fine. I get the same amount of bad data with it as I do just the serial connection.

as long as it is a decent usb adapter, you should be fine.

personally I stay away from the belkin and the radioshack ones. personal fav is the IOgear GUC232A

2.0 hardware will have the option of USB from my understanding (2.0 software will work on any of the cables, usb is really only necessary for the LS2 right now)

It is also my understanding that the USB/LS2 cable will be an upgrade that will cost more. Can anyone confirm this?

I am going to order HPTuners for this summer. I would go ahead and get it, but I won't have time to mess with it until this summer, and I would just assume get an extra 2 months in upgrades. I just hope they don't INCREASE the price or anything. A price decrease would be nice, but as long as it stays the same, I'm cool with that.

I've got to get an LM-1 Wideband sometime too....

So your saying I should just get the version now and the adapter cable to hook up to my USB port on my laptop??

I think the point is that you can do what you want to do, wait or not wait, either way you can use USB, even if you only had a serial connection they make serial to USB as well. The choice is yours.
