it seems like a pretty good alternative to the high cost of hp tuners, ls1edit, ect. for the everyday obd2 vehicle owner

Its a good alternative to autotap, perhaps. It can only read your OBD-II info. The ones you mentioned, HPT and Edit, allow you to edit your ECU. Its misleading that this program says that it allows you to "TUNE" your car. While it may be able to aid in tuning a car, it can not tune it directly.

That's not bad but you can get the same thing from autoxray + you can log on it seperate from the laptop.
