question about timing in SD mode

question about timing in SD mode the timing in SD is pulled from the low octane tables right?
when KR is sensored, its suppose to mix high and low octane. when your in SD and its noticing KR will it just pull the max timing you said for it to pull? i noticed mine pulled 4* one time but the tables for high and low were the same. i thought it blended them?anyway, if i stay in SD mode i just wanna make sure it will still knock back the timing if i get some knock
