Default 00' Trans Am Code problems

Whats up everyone,

I am getting codes P0151, P0154, P0174, P0420, and P1153. The car is a 2000 trans am A4. The people I bought the car from said it needed a new Cat installed on the passenger side. I just wanted to see what everyone else thought before I threw money into a cat without properly evaluating the problem. I know the O2 sensors on the passenger side are new as well.

Thanks!

Are they new in the rear, or new in the front. I know that the P1153 code, is caused from the o2 sensors not switching fast enough, typically caused by not being hot enough. You would be best off buying REAR corvette o2 sensors for the front o2's on your car. If you do that and that doesn't work, you can then buy a heat wrapping for the headers so that they will run hotter exhaust gasses to the o2.

Just looked up the codes - they all relate to the precat, passenger side 02 (Bank 2, sensor 1) except for P0420 - that's the driver's side. They're probably right about needing a new cat, just have the wrong one (passenger side would be P0430). Don't buy a stock cat, they're covered under the Fed emissions warranty for 8 yrs/80K, search for "P0420" in this forum. I'd look at the wiring/connection(s) for the Bank 2 sensor before the cat, replace it if necessary, clear all the codes and then see if P0420 returns. P0420 won't affect performance, but the other codes will.

Yea, I noticed that tonight. I raced a stage 2 srt-4 and he hung with me from a roll, I was like uh oh...This little hesitation has to stop....My car isn't at the peak of it's performance right now. All I need is a little cam(big) and a new o2 sensor and I will be good to go, lol. Won't just getting a new o2 sensor, preferably the bosch 13111, fix the SES light for P1153 and P0151?
