if you need to start tuning now, you should probably go with HPT. Flashscan is quite a bad *** package, it's my choice, but they don't have full support for 98's yet. If you can wait a while, hold off and get the flashscan package - it should be worth the wait.

HP tuners.. its not vin specific, and it comes with a great scantool that does more then autotap... so you could sell autotap and offset the cost.

Go Hptuners!!! You can make more money than any other program tuning others cars with your 1st 2 licenses, + you can buy other licences and make money w/ those. Cant lose. Ls1 edit charges almost the same for a pcm locked license then asks for $1xx.xx some odd dollars for each additional pcm locked license. No disrespect to LS1 Edit or its users, its a great program, Just not for me

You can trade in your Autotap to HPT, ask keith@hptuners.com.

Go with HP Tuners. Trade in the ATAP and you get a $100 discount. Not bad for $399 and you need a second vehicle type. Find someone to go half and it will be even cheaper. Plus, with HPT, you only need one cable to scan and tune with.

The scanner will work on any OBDII GM Products.
