1998 PCM??? What's the difference between it and the newer years?
The title basically says it. How is the 98 PCM different from the 99+?? Why is hypertech the only company that makes a programmer for them? I just ordered the hypertech for my 98... I'll use it till I get headers and a cam, at which point I'll sell it and get a professional tune. I also just got a ported and descreened MAF sensor, and I'm reading all over that this is a bad idea...why?

Your right, superchips does have one for the 98, but it is similar to the hypertech, that are only designed for stock, gear, intake and exhaust upgrades, more than that, then you have outgrown what that tuner was designed for.
I look forward to see how the vinci tuner works for the 98 guys.

Is it possible to swap out the computer from the 98 T/A and install a unit from a 99-02 unit, as I also have a 98 T/A. Or by doing this would it set off a bunch of codes? Further, does anyone recommend descreening the factory MAF, or is that a bad idea, as I hear it back and forth.

The processor in the 98 PCM is slower. I have never actually heard of it making a difference. And you can't copy a later year OS on a 98 PCM. There are a lot of OS differences in later years.

I'll believe it when I see it. They have been saying this for a while, just like the predator for the 98's.

Now my car is in the shop waiting to have a valvejob and the heads milled flat. Not sure when my car will be ready, nor if the offer will still be good to test the unit at that time. Then I need to find a stock tune for less than an arm.
