timing tables question...
well.. I'm ready to work on timing tables...
I keep hearing everybody saying they are running 28*/ 30* of timing??
what #'s are they looking at.....
are they looking at spark advance in scanner program??
stock spark tables already read 28* and more in places(like as high as 40*) in teh tables in the editor program...
just not completely sure of what I am looking at..and looking for...
a little help please...

When you say stock values are that high, are you looking at the WOT values? During cruise, it is common to see numbers in the 30's. But, at wide open throttle, that much spark advance would most likely cause problems.

Yep, thats the advance their talking about. High octane and most copy it over to the low octane and minus 2*. I copied mine and then -2 degrees as well. Base spark is on a diff tab. If you log with histogram and have advance, retard and kr, you will see where the timing you are getting is in which cell, then you can modify. Some ppl still hold on to the add timing until it see's KR then back it off a degree or two, I stick no more than 28* NA. I tried 33* no KR but didnt run any different so there was no reason to keep it on the threshold.

My advance is even worse (Z06) at .08 g/cyl from 2000rpm upto 8000rpm it's set at 40* advance, the next two rows are the same and next couple in higher 30*'s. I get absoultely no KR anywhere. Now are you saying we should just leave this alone or bring it down to your max timing advance at wot, mine being 24/26? 40* seems a little high for such low load situations, or am I missing something.

anyone else tried to smooth the whole talbe out?? ive always wondered if i hit smooth once if it would help things out or make them worse
