Default laptop in a guage

If this is a repost please kill this thread.

Otherwise, I was reading in High Performance Pontiac (Aug 05 issue) and on page 8 they have this guage that connects to the OBDII connector and reads PCM info right to the guage and is powered by the OBDII connection.

Very cool IMO

I just want to know 2 things:

1st has anyone installed this and knows how it works and
2nd do we have a sponsor that sells them????

Different colors? "Yes"

Some details:

"the Interceptor will interface with any gasoline powered 1996 and up
GM and Isuzu car or light truck that is OBD2 compliant. Known exceptions are
the 2005 Pontiac G6, Grand Prix and GTO which use the new CAN bus.
"

and

"The Interceptor is a 2 1/16" gauge that reads, displays, and records any two of
up to 28* important engine operating parameters. These parameters are
typically accessed via a scan tool. Scan tools plug into the OBD2 port
(diagnostic port located under the dash) and display critical data necessary for
performance tuning and problem diagnosis. The Interceptor also reads and
clears DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

I saw this in HPP as well.

It does record....

"Once selected, the Interceptor will return to normal scan mode, but will start recording the displayed data automatically when the throttle exceeds 50% and engine load exceeds 65%. Approximately 35-40 seconds of data will be stored. Returning to the menu screen, you can choose to replay the stored data on the Interceptor display."

I am thinking this could replace my trans temp guage and do the job of others as well.

I think I will try it out in a month and get the red/black.

That is cool as hell. I would love to get 2 of them but I have no clue where I could mount them. Already have a pillar mount with 2 gauges in it.

I hope I do not sound like I am selling this thing because I am not and just heard of it this week.

But, it can replace any guage and be used as many.

I plan on removing my Trans Temp for this one. And they have one that is black with red light to match my interior setup.

If the gauge runs off of the OBDII connection then how would you run two of these?

These supporting vendors have either shown interest or have placed orders to carry these. They should have them starting around the first of the month (June).

This is from their website
Dual Interceptor Option: Two Interceptors can be purchased with a special splitter
cable that allows both gauges to operate simultaneously. Please note that these dual
gauges are designed to work in tandem and not separately. They will not function properly apart

Looks like depending on color choices and number of gauges anywhere from $199 to $389

Dang, I might need to get one of these as payment for the Q & A!!

Hmmmmmmmm........ too bad they cost so much, I guess I will just keep using my Palm and the LS1M scanning/data logging software with its gauge screen.

Does anyone else see a Group Purchase in our near futures?

I would like to get one of these for my car and if I can get a GP discount than that is what I am doing.
