Default Unplugged MAF and no code

Title pretty much says it all. I am starting to go through the basic tuning "how to" and I have unplugged my MAF but it's not throwing anything codes?

any ideas?

Just set the maf fail frequency to 0, that way is easier. If it still doesn't throw the code, make sure the dtc isn't set to "no error reported" because that is how the computer knows to switch to speed density. If just the ses light is disabled that's ok.

For some reason when I set my MAF to 0 the computer took a while to turn the SES light on, like 5 minutes or so. I still don't know why it took so long. You might try driving it a bit and see if that does it.

Did you try drive cycling the car a few times. ie. start and run for a few minutes then turn off, repeat again and it should 'fail' into SD mode.

make sure P0102 is set to either "No MIL Light" or "MIL on 1st Error"

yeah i drove the car around for quite some time with multiple shutting off and starting again. I will try setting the fail frequency to 0 and seeing what happens.

On some 00's I have found that setting the maf fail to 0 does not work. I have had this happen on two cars, both 00's. Unplug the MAF like stated and set the 101, 102, 103 to mil on first error.
