throwing a code...please help

Default throwing a code...please help

scanned it and it was P0113...which is inlet air temp. so naturally i bought a new sensor, cleared the code, and it still came back...why, what am i missing? BTW, car is a 99 c5

It should help you troubleshoot this code. Is this the only code you are getting?

Time to break out the DVOM! You may want to check your original IAT sensor, it's probably okay.

Digital volt ohm meter. Any electronics store would carry them.

Do you have a scanner capable of reading Data or is it just a code reader? I would be looking to see what the air temp showed. -40° indicates an open in the circuit and 300° (or thereabouts) indicates a short to ground. You can use the DVOM as mentioned before to check for resistance in the wires and for a short to ground.

very nice...thanks for all the advice...like you said, time to break out the dvom...


surpryze, it was just a code reader...just trying to avoid taking it to the dealer for a troubleshooting session

Yep, the PCM uses the IAT sensor for its airmass calculation. When it's gone the PCM goes into reduced power mode.

I own a Tech2 & HP Tuners. If your near Charlotte, NC maybe I can help you.
If not, then the DVOM will be your best buddy
