Default Second SES light...

When I got my car I thought this **** is fast I'm not doing anything to it!!
WHOA! I can't believe I said that
But anyway after a lid and filter I ported and polished the MAF. I then got my first ses light some lean code that said lean on both banks. Took it to the dealer and got charged $80. But I did find out that it was the maf, but I declined the $450 service . So I then bought a Granatelli Cold air maf. Yet the same code again. So I finally bought a stocker thanx to JimmyBlue thanx a million.. so for 10 miles that code was gone an then

I try to get an inspection sticker and the ses light comes on and P0430 came on. Don't worry i used the search button. I need new cats or O2s.

Do these ses lights ever end.

I don't know if I should put this in new owners forum? maybe PCM and NEW OWNER forum huh?

string of bad luck eh? Have you cleared out all the codes since installing the stock maf?

Running lean can distroy cats quicker than running rich. Perhaps they met their death. Cats have a federal warrenty thats at least 7yrs or 70k miles. correct me if i'm wrong.

Catalyst efficiency code is either rear O2s or cats.
If you are not under an emissions inspection regime
then I'd just get the code turned off. I would also
give it some time to go away on its own, all of the
MAF swappage could have produced some soot and
tar while re-adjusting that just need to burn off now.
Some vigorous exercise perhaps.

well while I was putting in the stock maf whick took like 45 minutes because of the bellow, I disconnected the battery. so that should of taken care of it because only one code came up yesterday. I have a TSP catted-y waiting to be installed so that will take care of the cat problem, right?

once again thanx for the input

That will take care of the cat problem.I just think your new MAF needs to be adjusted by your cars computer. It needs drive time so if it just doesnt clear up,give it a little time...

Federal emissions warranty is 8/80, covers cats and PCM only. Running rich or lean (due to MAF or more commonly O2s) can both reduce the life of your kittys. Disconnecting the battery won't clear history codes unless it's undone for a couple of weeks. Caps in the PCM will store the codes for a good while in most cases. It should only take a couple of drive cycles for your PCM to relearn what it needs to for idle, A/F once you put in that MAF.
