Default 94' and 95' PCM swap for programming?

I just installed a new rear end in my car with 4.30 gears and need to get the spedometer recallibrated. A buddy of mine has a 94' z28 m6 and has all the stuff to reprogram the PCM. I was wondering if I could swap the PCM from my 95 TA m6 into his car for the calibration? Both cars are OBD1 but the 95' has the OBD2 connector so we cant hook his laptop into my car. Was just wanting some opinions before we messed something up. Thanks in advance.

That's how I did a 95 LT1 in a 88 truck. I swapped the PCM into a 94, programmed it in the camaro then put it back into the truck. Only reason I did this was because we did not have the wiring harness for the truck yet.
