Default Switching from a 00 to and 01 single VE table program

What do I need to do to switch from an 00 to 01 operating system? I want to eliminate the dual ve tables.

I would copy all the values that you have "changed" into the 01 file, including the VE table. Check to make sure that in your current tune the Primary and Secondary reflect each other. If so, just copy the Primay to the 01 file and you are set. If you need help on this, I can do the conversion here in a few mins.

Can I use any year from 01+ if I have the HP Tuner cable to match?
How do I upload? Write Entire VCM?

yeah...juast rewrite the entire computer..just make sure you copy all values in every table across before you burn the file...

did it to mine...and it was way easier to do my tune after that...

Alright, got a problem. I have 2 HP tuner cables
1 - 99 - 00 vette
1 - 98 - 01 - 02 vette

Its saying that I can't put the 02 program into the 99 because the cable doesn't match the base year.

Well Phil, you have a small problem. You have 99 on a separate cable and it won't allow you to switch OS's. You need to have the year of the car on the cable AND the new year you want to put in. you can't put a 01-02 on the 99 because THAT cable doesn't have 99 on it.

I dunno about that Phil, you might be able to. Call Larry and see what he say's, I know he has had several dealings with the dealer.

Not to hijack the thread, but if I have a stock 2000 .bin file, and I want to upload a stock 2001 .bin file what is needed? Just chang the primary VE in the 2001 file? Otherwise everything else will work fine?

I thought there were more differences between the 00 and 01 programs. Just wanting to check before I do something I shoudn't.

I have a 99 vette and my HPtuners is for a 99 vette as well as 02 vette (2002 is the latest year that used the same PCM after that the memory is doubled to 1mb)

I'm about to convert my pcm to 2002 and I know that the main diff. is the ve table and the injector flow rates as well as the maf table.

so in order to do this I need to take a 2002 bin file change All of the tables to match the values from my car then rewrite the PCM with the 2002 bin.

after this what happens to the vin number on my pcm? will it not match my bcm and other items? this is where I get lost and HPtuners has not been really helpfull they want me to buy the upgraded 1bar setup.

Is there some place where this issue is written up so that I can work it out?

you will not be able to change your vin number and will be running around with an 02 vin number. That scheme is pretty foolish to me and I was faced with the same issue until i started using Flashscan.

Ok, another one that might want to change from 2000 to 2002 os. It would be easier to not have the sec. ve table, but are there any other issues to this swap? I have both 2000 (my car) and 2002 on my cable. Cant I alter the VIN with HPTuners once the os is copied over using the change VIN feature, or is it the 02 os wont recognize the 00 VIN? If it is only the VIN, will that effect anything I need to do, or simple have a different number in there?
Thanks,

Charlie

Nope, I don't belive you are able to change the vin back to your 00 one. It isn't that the OS won't recognize the VIN, HPT has disabled that feature. It doesn't effect anything except you know you have a 02 vin and os on your 00 car.

No, if you don't have support for a 02, then you can't flash his car. If that was the case, then there wouldn't be a license structure.

Chad, when I had some major issues using HPT on my buddies 02, I had to grab a stock 02 tune to put in his car, then I had changed the VIN to match his using the feature in HPT. So I am not sure, but I could have swore I changed his VIN, maybe thats disabled on an updated version?

You probably did. You changed a 02 bin on a 02 tune. You can change the vin I believe on corresponding years, but not on a mix and match (00 vin on a 02 tune).

I was wondering that part, thanks for addressing that. Damn it. So, the absolute only issue will be the number in the pcm, nothing else? Cool, no BCM issues right?
