Default Crane Powermax Tuner track results

This handheld has the ability to change tunes based on the characteristics of the cam and other modifications. I run the 206/212 515/522 112 CompCam with SLP 1.85 rockers. The Cam 1 tune gave me a solid tenth and 1 mph improvement over the stock tune. (This was a similar gain that I got from the HPP3 powertune. For some odd reason the HPP3 tune worked well with my cam) My traps were 110.8s. Then I tried the Cam 2 tune and ran 111.4s. The DA was steady at 1613 thru all 4 runs, 2 runs with Cam 1 tune & 2 runs with Cam 2 tune.

So from stock, the tuner got me ~ 1.6 mph. That equates to ~16 horsepower. Not too bad an improvement.

Where this tuner really shines is how it improved part throttle driving. Engine feels smoother and more responsive during daily driving. The transmission settings are great. It addressed all of the common issue with running a hi stall TC. The new TC was my main reason for getting the tuner. So, getting a little more trap speed power from the tune is icing on the cake. I'm pleased with the results.

This handheld is a great choice for those who don't have the time, patience, or desire to learn how to tune an LS1 properly with an editing program. Plain and simple ... IT WORKS!

I'm running a Boss 2 216/224 with 1.8 crane rockers, AFR 205's 62cc. Before I installed heads, roger suggested cam selection 3, no enrichment, 10% advance. You may want to try this setting with your cam, I know it made my car perform even better than 1 and 2.

LOL, I didn't even think about trying the Cam 3!!! I added 10% timing to the Cam 2 and slowed down so I thought I had found the optimum setting. Well, I guess I got more experimenting to do.

Thanks for adding more info into this thread gentlemen. More info on this handheld is needed for guys doing their pre-purchase research.
