Question Reprogramming from LS1Edit

Can you use a handheld to reprogram from LS1Edit? I have a '98 Z28 that was programmed using LS1Edit last year. My car needs to be re-tuned, but I don't know where to start. I was thinking of buying a HPTuners or Vinci prgrammer.

I will really appreciate any advice!

your options are edit, and hptuners for the 1998 cars right now.

Vinci's tuner is not available for the 98 cars yet. To be honest I do not know how they program, if they write a full file, based off a full file on the device it could overwrite the tune. however, if it is programmed based on how I would expect, it only writes the changes, which could cause a problem with writing over an edited tune.

That's kinda what I was thinking too. I may need to find someone who can re-tune w/LS1Edit.

you can reprogram with hptuners or edit, on a edited file. Or have you pcm flashed back to stock, and use any of the handhelds.

I asked this exact same question to Keith at HPT, and he said that the HPT will be able to read, edit and reflash a VCM that has already been tuned using Edit.

When EFILive gets the 98 support going, you will be able to do the same. At the moment though, your only choices would be LS1Edit, HPT, or a Tech2.
