Im new have a dumb question Hello i just wanted to ask a qusestion....
Here it goes so bare with me...Im new
I have a 95 pontiac trans am i have done searches on hooking up a laptop to the cars computer system but the only thing that comes up is stuff on honda's and well basically import car's and nothing on american car's...
Well is it possible to hook up a laptop via usb somehow to my cars computer and run a program for it???
If so how can i do this and what software do i need....

Well i have done searches on the net for instructions on how to hook up a usb cable to my T/A but as i said all i get is ricer info...Im a broke *** and trying to figure out alternatives to doing this stuff ...Someone help

i though tunercat was for lt1s also, but wasnt too sure....those i believe are your 2 only options if you want a laptop based tuner, otherwise your going to have to look into getting a hpp 3 or something of the sort. expect to pay 4-500 for any of them.

You’re not going to just connect a USB cable to your cars computer and be able to do anything with the car. You will need a special cable and software to do anything with it. If you just want to read codes and view real-time data then something like AutoTap is what you want. If you want to re-program the computer and make adjustments to how the car runs then one of the software packages listed above is what you want.

I kinda figured that guess i need to start saving up seems i have been putting alot into my car lately LOL....
I have seen people take there car computers apart to soldier wires they use a data cable or usb cable i have not seen it in person but on the net just pictures and they were ricer cars like honda...I was just curious if there was a way to do that to my T/A...
I know you can download programs for my T/A but i was wondering if i could run the program and make up my own cable BUT hell i do not have any idea how to do any of that and can not afford to have it done...I may be a computer geek but when it comes to the car's computer im like duh...But can do other things to my car LOL

Well i have one cable a friend made me it worked for like a month on my Camaro till i got rid of it and got my T/A it was a just a usb cable and routed to the cig lighter for power but that only lasted for a month and then it died and the software i used was TurboEDIT and man it was nice but now i am just trying to figure out an easier way to hook up something...
