Car stalls when logging only

When ever I go to log a run with efi live my car stalls in 2nd gear. I have used the same cable, laptop, and software on a friends car with no problems. It will show 8.5 deg. knock retard and fall on it's nose for a second and then pick back up. I tried using the free sacnner from ls1 edit and it does the same thing. The car runs fine with it not hooked up. Any ideas?

Car and Mods

Strange. No I don't have any idea. Thats the first of heard of this problem. Are you powering the notebook from the car?

No, I'm running off the battery. I have to figure this out so I can start tuning, I'm in the dark and guessing now.

not to be a smart ***, but are you sure it's not a mental thing? in otherwords, are you driving the car the same whether you are logging or not?

I shall give it a try and find out. And no it's not mental, it flat just shuts down for a second gives a short backfire and then takes off again. I forgot to mention earlier that it backfires.

What scanner? HP tuners has live editing functions, are you sure he wasn't changing anything while it was connected?

Its always fun to turn the fuel pump off and give them heart attacks in traffic.
