Default MAFLESS was eas-why did I wait

My car NEVER runs at part throttle. I'd been afraid to remove the MAF, but I finally tried it. Runs awesome. I never run it long enough at part throttle to worry about LTRMS, so I can just tune the PE vs RPM and forget about the rest.

Wish I would have done this on my old car!

I like SD for track days myself, everything reacts just a tad quicker.
Hey David, did you get my writeup on OL/SD stuff? Did it help you any?
Tuning just with PE and a wideband will get you a proper WOT behavior, but you still might look into getting your VE table dialed in for better transient fuel conditions. My car really woke up after I got it dialed in, and rolling on the throttle coming out of corners never felt better.

Default speed density

Can you guys tell me in the ve tables, the higher the number the richer the mixture is? Also, does speed density ever go into closed loop?

SD simply means you are running off the VE table with out MAF input.

Open Loop means you are not using the feed back from narrowband O2 sensors

Closed Loop uses feed back from the O2 sensors to trim the mixture to 14.63:1

So, to answer your question, yes, SD can be CL. Personally I run OL SD (I use a WB O2 to monitor my mixture).

In the VE table, the higher the value, the more fuel the PCM will add. Doesn't necessarily mean you'll be rich though.

Does it run quicker in the 1/4 mile by running SD? I know when you run SD you can remove the MAF. Any improvement?

I don't have track times yet.

Over all, I like the way my car runs in SD over MAF. The difference is slight, but I like it better.

I read several write-ups, but loggin LTRMS isn't an option on my car, and I don't have a wide-band that records data. I'm basically flying by the seat of my pants, tuning parts of the tables as needed.

In my situation, even the largest MAF's readily available create restrictions, so I wanted to get rid of it for that reason. With the new LS2 style setup and 90mm throttle body, I wanted the air coming in as unrestricted as possible.
