What in the 98 file prevents manifold vaccum being used as a trans pressure backup when there's no maf.

he says its just the way that the code was written in the 98's...
they changed it up mid 99...so half of teh 99's are that way too it appears..
everything past that is a erference to the VE...which is another reason it is important get your VE correct

The thing here is that early 97, 98 and some 99 calibrations have the trans set to shift at full line pressure if a MAF DTC exists (ie. if you unplug it).
Once this is removed the trans shifts fine in SD.

Lids have a bigger effect on maf readings than descreening it. BTW, if your looking to lean it out, 13.7 to 1 is already to lean.

if you were running 13.7 before you descreened your MAF then yeh...thats gettin on the lean side a little too much. My car runs 13.65 and thats the actual at the highest I have ever seen it. average is 13.3-13.0. usually runs between 13.6 down to 12.8
