i'm pretty much permanently playing with VE, seeing how it changes with how I drive, environement, weather, altitude, etc.
the only 'performance' reason for SD for me was throttle response. it seems to be a bit faster than MAF, but you really have to pay close attention to tell.

sd is easier to tune and you throw out the error of the maf, i would rather have one less error introduced to the system. plus from what we have been studying in fluids class it backs up my initial thoughs on the airflow measurements. my cars response is much better and the trims dont chagne much. i had a tune i did in 105 deg heat this summer with the cam that has seen 65 deg weather and hasnt changed much at all maybe 2%

Removing the MAF was just the right thing to do.

I really wasnt liking the response of the MAF...SD was faster...had a way better seat of the pants feel....and I can tune it to exactly the A/F that I want...where I want it...
and I really dont want LTFT's mucking up my tune..cause the stock o2's are only so acurate....and I have mods.LOL

(please excuse, off-topic) Nice, soundengineer. You must be fairly young or you're not burnt out yet. I traveled a bit in the late '70s, met some great folks. Hellofa lot of fun back then.

Still tuning the VE table to perfection.
I plan on bringing the MAF back in after that, unless it gives me fits. Hopefully I can get it to not screw up my trims.

I don’t know of any sponsors on this site that would sell these , the air filter is an off the shelf K&N item witch is for a v12 Mercedes (or so i have been told)
There are a few people here in Australia that have made their own from fibreglass. Should give few GTO owners who want to go msfless some ideas
