Default Advice on standalone

a little background:

building a TT LQ4, and its probably gonna end up in a 68-72 nova. No a/c, or anythign like that....I want to keep only what i need to make the motor run correctly. I do not have the stock pcm, or any electronics for that matter. I have the factory coils, but am unsure if i will be using them or not. It will be a forged motor, and probably mated to a TH350/400. Basically an old school car, with a new school motor.

What sort of successful/unsuccessfull experiences have u guys had running any of the standalones out there. i am familiar with the holley commander 950, and the electromotive tec 3. I have no other experience with other brands. The tuning is not a problem, as i have a very good understanding of fuel injection....so im basically just looking for likes/dislikes of some of the systems out there. any/all opinions welcome and appreciated.

The MegaSquirt is a great little unit. You could run an EDIS ignition setup with it right now, or I'm currently working on getting it to fire the LS1 coils as well.
