Help with system requirements for HPTuners
Help with system requirements for HPTuners Can someone give me a clue to the requirements a laptop needs to run HPTuners? Like wise the ports that are needed?

Very little is needed as far as system requirements to run HPTuners. In fact older laptops work better because they have the 9-pin connector needed to interface with the pcm, most newer laptops do not use 9-pins anymore. Also, you need a Windows 98 or better OS, at least a 300 MHz processor and 64 MB of ram.

its memory maxed, to hang tough. Dell laptops with DB9
serial ports ran up through at least the 1GHz range and
I just got one off eBay for $420.
HPTuners 2.0 will have USB as an option for new hardware
shoppers. But USB is needier and makes the MHz required,
higher. I guess. Though after frying the serial port on the
Thinkpad I've been logging with a Wal-Mart USB-Serial
dongle without any trouble. Haven't tried any of the high
speed stuff though.
Anyway, cheap is where it's at. Too cheap, is anything
less than my setup.
