Blown Cats
Had my car dyno tuned before and after with mods put on (LT's, Random tech cats) and within 4000 miles the check engine light came on and both cats blew out within a day of each other!
Shop says the tune was fine and put new ones on. My light came on again (after saying the deleted the trouble code) after 3000k and so they deleted it again or played with the O2's to get it not to come on again, but now I'm worried the cats may blow again because the car seems to be running a little off (hesitant at WOT and gas mileage went from 230 to 120 on a full tank). Any ideas on what the hell is going on???????

what codes are you setting (exact codes)? sounds like you're having issues w/the front O2s and not the rears (a code for the fronts will cause you to go into open loop all the time and cause poor fuel economy ... unless the cats are clogged they shouldn't cause that much of a loss in fuel economy)

I bet metallic-substrate cats are even more hurt
by overtemp operation than the zirconia stockers.
Of course the first thing a lot of people want to
do is kill COT for fueling consistency at WOT....
But unless the guts blew out and lodged elsewhere
(making for backpressure?) the other symptoms
seem not to relate to catalyst efficiency or rear O2
codes.

Thx for the posts guys.
I dont recall what the error code was that the shop guys said, but they were saying it was my O2's the first time and said they'd delete them and that the cats blowing were strange. Then 3k later (new cats) the engine light came on and the took it to the back of the shop and said they were going to adjust the O2 and that should fix the problem and "delete" the new code. Sorry dont know the codes to make it clearer.
