P0135/P055/P0300 - Help, what should I do next?
Sunday while driving back from the track, I got a “Service Engine Soon” light. I had the codes checked at AutoZone. There were three:
I can’t imagine its faulty sensors. I would assume that for BOTH of them to fail simultaneously is nearly impossible.
Some of threads implied that this problem is not unusual after installing headers (although they never said WHY this would be true or what to do about it). I put in QTP long tubes one year ago and 1,500 miles ago. Since it’s been so long, it would seem unlikely to be the cause.
One last question: If I run this weekend without solving the problem, will it affect performance? More importantly, could it do any damage to the motor?
- P0135 – O2 sensor heater malfunction, bank 1, sensor 1
- P0155 – O2 sensor heater malfunction, bank 2, sensor 1
- P0300 – random/multiple cylinder misfire.
- unhooked the ground wire from the battery terminal for a minute or so to reset the codes in case it was a fluke problem. The Service Engine Soon light did NOT go out.
- checked to make sure that the fuse for the O2 sensors was not blown.
- checked over the wiring to the sensors for melted or frayed wires.
