For the cost of getting the flasher and a adapter for the prom, you could buy 3 computers.
But, if you still want to, pocket programmer 2 and the correct adapter will get you going.

ok i have been looking around and i found this really cheap programmer

http://www.darkwire.com.au/html/eprom_pcb3_5.html
i can buy the adaptor for my ab28f400b5 chip (PSOP44 (Am29F/28F200-800))
for $5.95

would this setup work?

Will any eprom chip work in the pcm as long as its a 28f400 chip or does it have to have b5 at the end

Adapter PSOP44 Socket (Am29F/28F200-800) - adds support for:
Flash memory : 29F400, 28F800, 28F200, 28F400, 28F800
1 set = (Adapter PSOP44 Socket (Am29F/28F200-800) + ribbon cable adapter ) 56.00

Is the one you would need.

The other 5 dollar one you would have to solder your chip to that board, then program it, then desolder it again, then put it back into your computer....

Thanks heaps wait4me i appricate your help. I just put an order on the eprom writer and $56 adaptor.

Just one last question. I need to buy another flash chip cause i broke off one of the pins when desoldering it (rrrhhh it was the last pin to be desoldered )

Will any 28f400 eprom work as long as it is a -b80 (bottom boot) or does it need to be the extact same one AB28F400B5 (eg will a 28bf400b3 or 28f400bx work)
