Default shift speeds for A4

I did some searching but just want to make sure of how to correct my settings. I installed a cam (232/238 on 114), got it running, starting and idling fine, now i am having problems banging the rev limiter on the 2<3 shift. I have all my shift speeds to stock 1<2 @ 37 3<4 @ 76, put the WOT rpm at 6300, and my fuel rev limiter at 6800. I left that at 6800 to give me some room. Maybe I shouldn’t have. Anyway this is what is in the car right now and it banged again when I changed it to this. Did a search and didn’t really find anything besides one guy saying lower the mph and leave the rpm alone and that would make the car shift at the rpm. Any suggestions?
Also what does it mean when the SES light flashes three times then goes off? it has done this 3-4 times since Sunday when I got it running?

Thanks,
John

I use HPTuners and stock 3.23 in rear with drag radials

flashing SES = Multiple MisFire detected, common on cars w/big cams ... you can turn this off in software (change the misfire detection settings)

what I would do is , as mentioned, lower your MPH and use your RPM table to shift... start low, set RPM at 6000, (set mph like 60) .. the PCM uses both tables to shift, so if you set it up like this.. you'd need to be going at least 60mph and at least 6000 RPM to shift into 3rd.. since 60 occurs below 6000 RPM you're effectively shifting based on RPM alone

If it still bangs the limiter, you can try upping your trans pressure a little (if you don't have a shift kit, if you have a shift kit then don't up the pressure)... if it's still bouncing the trans may be on its way out

I sure hope the tranny isn't on its way out! car only has 28,6xx and is a garage queen
I will try your advice and start at 60mph and 6000rpm. So as I make adjustments to raise rpm do I leave the mph at 60 and then bump rpm to 6100, 6200, 6300??? I was hoping to wind it out to 6300-6400. Also do i leave my rev limiter at 6800?

I would lower your rev limiter to more like 6500 ...

As you're shifting, be sure to log the shifts ... if you set it to 6000 rpm, there's a delay between clutch engagement so it may actually shift at 6100 or so ... I generally set my shift RPM 100-200 below what I want to shift at

but yea, start off low and work your way up, leave the mph as is .
