Any DEMO or instruction book on LS1 Edit?
I dont understand. Why would carputing sell a BETA version to the public? It looks like you can purchase it from there website. If I bougt it and they told me it was still a BETA I would be pretty pissed. Its like saying we are going to charge you full price for this car but its not done yet, and tell us what you think of it.
I have emailed Carputing twice about this, and have not heard back from them. Once after my first post above, once last night before those links were posted.
SIKLS1, I ask you to edit your post and remove those links for now. I can do it, I'd just rather you do it. However, if I don't see it done by later today, I'll do it.
I'd really like Carputing to host the 'official' version of the documentation, and provide it to the public.
(Edit)RE: Carputing selling the BETA
The whole purpose behind the BETA is to get it in people's hands so that it can continue to be tested. It's not that it's an unusable or unrefined product at all. We just know that it may have some bugs. It does. So what, we find them, they fix them. You probably don't appreciate the complexity of building a software package like this. If you don't want it, DON'T BUY IT. Nobody's forcing you.

Andrew, actually its the opposite. I know how hard it is to program stuff like this (I dab in it a little). However If I was selling a BETA and having customers test out the bugs I wouldn't charge for updates after 6 months (Unless the updates are just adding other features and not bug fixes).

This Beta label is nothing more than a waiver in my opinion stating Hey this is a new product, there may be some glitches! The likelyhood that there will be many significant changes is small. Can anybody offer information to contradict me? For you lt1 edit users, what changes were made from the original release? Many, Signifigant?
"If you don't want it don't buy it" and no warranty all for $500 bucks plus. Give me the unlimited version so we can screw up everyones car.
I appreciate what these guys are trying to do and I was just about to purchase one of these gems, but it might be easier to plop a holley 750 on my LS1 than to be a test mule. Tell me how it goes in a year or two.

Think what you like, honestly, I'm not here to convince you that you need the software. It works. It's very useable. It is certainly not 'test mule'. I know test mule software - I was the first person to drive a car that was programmed with LT1_Edit (before it was even called LT1_Edit). LS1_Edit is FAR more refined at this "beta" point than LT1_Edit was when I got it. When I say 'it has a few bugs', I mean stuff like the tire size scalar doesn't work on '98 files, but it works on '99 files. That's the kind of stuff that's being found - and fixed. And as for updates, they did a LOT of updates with LT1_Edit. Virtually every feature that was asked for, they put in the editor. The original editor was a very far cry from the current incarnation.
I consider LS1_Edit a very useable and nice package at this point, and I don't expect it to be 100% perfect, but based on my last 2 1/2 years working with Ken and Dave, they'll fix the problems and they'll keep on going.
I would recommend LS1_Edit to anyone who wants to learn how their PCM works, and learn how it all ties together, and who wants to take the time to do it themselves. There is always the Ed Wright, TTS, BV Performance, MTI, Morgan, yada yada yada option if you don't want to do it yourself. Again, like I said this morning (before I had my cup of coffee ), nobody's forcing you to buy it. If you want it, great, it's a great tool to own and use. If you don't want it, don't buy it, you have other options available.
As for the Holley carb, good luck.

Sounds like a techy squabble. I don't know much about LS1 edit but from the quality reading here I better keep my hands off of it until its in PepBoy's ..
Uh.. duh!
Have some of you guys ever read ANY License Agreement for software? Almost every software license I've ever read holds the creator free from harm concerning it's use.
People will trash their car and blame Carputing for THEIR OWN inexperienced errors.
It reads the data and writes what you put there.
That's what it's supposed to do.
If you don't want it... well good! Get left in the dust, as far as programming your vehicle is concerned.
If you have doubts, then THAT is a good indicator you don't need it.
