Computer not reading MAF, HELP could it be a wire
Okay to start this off I have been working on getting my car computer done have had it done and it work on one car but not mine, well it turns out that my maf is not registering to the computer, it says it is .03 and it stays there even if I give it gas. Basically I have used three different mafs, two stock and on Granitelli. Has anyone ever had this problem, I know that it is reading 5 volt to the plug in but what would it be a burnt wire, I have no idea kind of clueless right now. If anyone sees this please give me the pins for a 98' camaro so I can try and rewire the maf and see if that works, any ideas would be great on what it might be I am thinking that it is the wires cause it isn't reading on the computer but is recieving 5volts to the plug in, ??????
The only code that is setting is low maf sensoring or something like that

have you looked along the path of the wire to see if there was anywhere it could have been burned? im not really an expert with ls1 computers but it seems logical that either your maf is bad, or the wires are burned somehow or grounded somehow (dont know if thats possible in this case)

Jet, just remove the translator to see if it still does it, if it still does the same thing then you can get a copy of the computer from a friend of mine that works for Monday. He got me a copy of a 99 for me....

Re: Computer not reading MAF, HELP could it be a wire
Well unfortunatly I have tried many mafs two stock that worked on other cars and my granitelli, I have had ls1 edit done on my computer and it ran like ****, but when put in another 98 it ran fine, then I had someone local look at the car and on a new computer w/ ls1edit did all the little changes and it still didn't work turned it back to stock and then we realized on autotape that the maf was getting no signal back it stayed at .03 weather I push the gas or idle it up. I am thinking that it is a wire and not the computer, cause one of my computer works fine in a friends car no problems, will have to figure out what wire it is any one know which is which on the pins for a 98

Yep, the car runs in speed density mode - the computer reads an Raw Maf Frequency of 0hz, and the airflow value stays at 0.31 lb/min (~2.32 g/sec) regardless of actual airflow (the same with MAF frequency - flatlined at 0hz).
We swapped with a known good MAF, as well as bypassed the MAF translator with no effect. We verified 5v to the MAF (reference at Key On).
My suggestion was to re-run the MAF signal wire from the MAF to the pcm, external to the harness.

I thought the MAF ran on 12V. Are you sure it's 5V? There should be 1 ground in the center and one of the wires should measure 12V and the other one 5V. I think you probably blew a fuse. Those are the syyptoms on the Vette I was working on when I blew a fuse messing with the MAF wiring.
