Default Why does less timing and/or a richer mixture yield more torque?

I noticed on the dyno Saturday that the more I removed fuel at WOT, the more my torque decreased. I was around 415lbft with rich A/F (.950 - .990), and eventually dropped to about 380lbft with WOT O2s around .900 - .930. I always thought leaner wasm ore power, but I guess to increase HP, you have to decrease torque?

Run richer at peak torque and lean it out progressively to redline.

First off you can ignore your stock o2's <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> .

You do want to be richest at your torque peak though - your engine is at max VE here, so you are using the most fuel you will anywhere here, but it is also the most sensitive to detonation/pre-ignition here.

You will also need the least amount of timing here as your charge quality is the greatest.
