2 step idea using LS1edit?
there are several revlimiters in the car that I saw. what if the non-functioning VSS revlimit were set to say 4000 rpm and a switch was placed on one of the wires of the VSS. If you open the switch the car would use a 4000 rpm rev limit. now if you close the switch would the revlimiter immediately jump to the regular limiter? M6 guys could rig a relay setup through an arming and clutch switch to the vss wire if this would work..
Any ideas?

I'd have to look in the Helms, if a 'bad' VSS is detected it might not recheck again until the next ignition key cycle. Even if it detects the change back when you throw the switch, the pcm may not monitor and/or react fast enough for use as a two-step.
But that is one creative idea, hope it pans out.

If I read the Helms correctly, the VSS inop condition is set when the pcm sees zero mph for 100 secs AND the TPS is >5% plus map at something like 45-80 kp.
It didn't really answer the question directly on rev limiter. But once the inop code (DTC 500, 503, or 503) is set the MIL comes on and stays on for 3 key cycles. Sounds like it won't work <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> anyone else have more detailed knowledge?
I think the fact that the inop code is not set for 100 secs (plus the conditions must be met) might be the downfall of the idea. Suppose you have that much time prior to staging to set the code though.

is there a max limit that the idle can be set at? i remember seeing 1200 but not sure if that was to pass emmisions or just something you cant go above.
if not what i was thinking was you could keep all of your idle speeds the same except when the a/c is off and the car is in drive.
You would change this one to whatever you want to stall at off the line. just turn the a/c off when your at the line, then turn it on when your finished so it doesnt idle so high.
i think i will try this for me since i cant launch at 1200 anyways with street tires on a truck without getting a 29.6 sec 60ft lol.
