Default Max timing

Hey all
On a stock LS1 with only induction stuff done to the engine, what is maximum amount of timing I should be able to run on pump gas w/out getting detonation?

I got LS1 Edit and want to raise my timing at WOT from 24 to say 29 or 30

29 to 30 should be doable with a stock car. Hook up autotap and see how much it lets you run.

any idea how much power can be gained from going from like 22 to 28 or 29* of timing? is it not that much? (assuming you add in appropriate ammounts of fuel...)

A/F ratio is the same regardless of the timing, so you shouldn't need to add any fuel.

Ok, what tables do I look at in LS1 Edit? I see the high octane spark advance vs. RPM and Load but it's in gms/cyl. Would I look at atap and get the amount of air coming in, divide by 8 and then convert from lbs to grams?

thanks chris, i was under the impression that the more timing you ran the more fuel it took. but now i guess its just get a good a/f ratio at part and WOT and then add timing, i assume untill you begin to get knock or till you get to about 29-30*?

is that anywhere close to right or did it fly five feet over my head?
