Default Ryan, atapped my car to see if misfires caused verter unlocking issues

ok i cant find the current total misfire parameter?? the only thing i see is total misfire?? is that is? but its 2 of them on there

anyway i just checked the current misfire history in all 8.. I had a friend ride and well around 45-60 i got misfires left and right... below that, not many... WOT, none at all <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

but i was having unlocking issues around 45-55 and this seems to be where most of my misfires are at.... also my converter never unlocked today(30mins of driving)

so do you still think thats my prob? LS1 edit will be here in 2 weeks, when i get it should i get rid of that misfire detection???

Want to see something interesting...

While driving, clear your DTCs. Your converter will immediatetly lock up. That's because you also clear all the misfires.

I noticed this last year, I have had lockup issues for a couple of years.

So what do y'all think about fixing it with LS1 Edit or a tuner like Ed Wright? Another post here fooled the misfire check and the problem went away.

I just upgraded my Y3200 to a PT4000 this weekend. Immediatly started having the problem. Too little mass on the flywheel. The bad part is that it has done nothing but rain since my son and I buttoned it up Saturday -- too little traction to really spank it.

John: ill try that when she unlocks and wont lock back <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> i just never get a ses light though, but i know what your saying...

ANDU: I saw that post, im gonna do the delete misfire detection and she how she does for a while... its in a post down below here somewhere... i replied to that one also.. its a certain colde you have to disable and the change the temps or something...

i emailed ED wright, and he told me there really wasnt anything he could do, but he can set your pcm to disbale the misfire detection. But if you can find someone to go in on ls1 edit with ya(2 user version) get it.. 325 each for 2 people!!

oh well, its worth a shot.. if not ill have to live with it

Howdy everybody,

Yes, I still think thats your issue. As PSJ stated, if you clear the DTC after it unlocks, the TC will lock back up. As far as not finding that parameter, I am sure its listed under the misfire section. No matter what, anything with "history" won't do what you need. The history function will only start logging misfires after a hard ses light code. Try looking at the total misfire one. Also, this is only a part throttle issue, so no need for the WOT blasts. You will have to watch that total misfires closely, as it resets every 2000 fireing events.

I promise, cross my heart.

When you clear the DTCs, you end up clearing some sort of misfire log.

My converter will unlock again after about 45 seconds. I probably have more misfires than you guys with my 242/242//114 cam.

PSJ, Who is tunning your car right now? Seriously, ask them to disable your misfire activation temps.

Just give it a try!

I usually set those to be disabled, and I haven't come across anyone who's had a TCC lockup problem after my tuning.

We'll try that on your car, PSJ! <img border="0" alt="[chug]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" />

I just changed the settings for my misfire detection temps to 140 then 139. I also turned the misfire code off like Pontiaddict posted in the other thead. I will take her for a spin when the rain lets up and my roll cage dries. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Phat storm is raging outside.

I have to drive the car to the shop so we can swap out my current cam so I'll know on the drive there if the programing worked. I'll post up anything I find as soon as I get home. I am praying for all of us that this works. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

SO far so good.

I drove a totla of 70 miles today with a bunch of stop and go and no abnormal lock-ups. A couple times I thought it was going to lock up but I think the tran was just short shifting into 3rd when I took off from a stop light.

My flashing SES light is also gone so I think this may have fixed it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

If I am wrong I will post back imediately.

What are you guys deleting? PO300? My understanding was, that once PO300 was gone the 'verter wouldn't have the lock/unlock issues...

I'm not gonna worry about I/M 240 anymore. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
