Which would you do and why???
I have a 98' Z28 A4. Mods as of now are in the sig. I plan on adding a cam, within a month or 2, stage 2 heads, by the end of the summer, and a torque converter sometime in between. Would I be better off to buy LS1 Edit, and program everything myself, or send it of to Ed Wright? Can Ls1 Edit do all the same stuff that ED Wright can do? I saw the features list on the LS1 Edit. Which would you guys do...???

Ed W. is pretty good and can do things not yet available in Edit. Experiences with him vary. Some swear by him, others at him.
Edit gives you a lot of flexibility to tweak things that you don't have when you do mail order tuning. By the end of summer, there will be a well developed body of info for those who want to DIY.

It's not a question of is the software capable, but do you feel you are. If you are willing to invest the time required to learn, tweak, and tune with the software, and have a decent understanding of how the motor works / the sensors interplay then you can give yourself a better tune than most any professional tuner - simply because of the amount of time you have to invest. But it will take quite a bit of effort.
On the other hand, if you want something that's plug and play, or much less involved on your part then it's hard to beat Ed Wright.

I heartily agree with what has been said.
Additionally, if you're going to keep the car for a while and it will evolve, the cost of something like LS1-Edit will amortize faster than mail order tuning.
Another factor to consider is your access to measuring devices: scan tools, timeslips, chassis dynos, on board WB O2,... The better your measuring tools and the better you understand them, the better you can make your tuning. If you don't have access to ways to measure the impact of your tuning changes, you won't be able to tune very effectively. It's worth emphasizing the investment of your time here again. (I'd never be able to make a living at this given the return per unit time invested. This is a perfect situation for the hobbyist though.) Also, you can go at your own pace learning as you go.
If you're looking for a turn-key, no hassles, once and done with it kind of solution mail order is the way to go. If you're a tinkering junkie, the editor is simply a gift from God. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Re: Which would you do and why???
ok, so here's another question for you guys. Does Ed Wright lock the PCM? Say it did send it to him at first, actually I would probably just drive it up there since he's in tulsa (right?) and I am in OKC if it were driveable, then after awhile i decided i wanted to get LS1 Edit and play with it myself? Could I say read his setup to a file and save it, then do my own stuff with some of his mixed in? If he does lock the PCM, is there a way to unlock it?

That is something you would need to discuss with Ed on an individual basis. I believe he normally locks the pcm, though I am of course not an official spokseman for him.
