Default Where is the best location for WB o2 sensor

Guys,

For those of you who haven't seen my other thread...I am installing a WB o2 sensor tomorrow and I wanted to know if it would be ok to put it in the Y-pipe so that I got readings for both banks?

Should it go closer to the manifolds? Should I have a WB sensor on both sides (pre-y) for tuning?

Thanks,

Scott

I was also looking into a location to mount a WB O2. My friend is a dealership mechanic and said it should be fine to tap threads into the Y-pipe...after the Y, for a dedicated WB sensor.

I assume you're talking about getting an O2 bung welded in.

You have to put the bung in before the cat otherwise it is worthless.

Well, I know that it needs to go before the cat (but I don't have cats anyway)! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I ended up welding the o2 bung in the drivers side part of the Y-pipe before the Y...It seems like it is working ok, although I am rich right now 11.4:1, so I will be doing some tuning tonight!

This setup really kicks ***! Check them out at http://www.fjoinc.com/automotive/products.htm

None of the sponsors are dealers for them, but they should be <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />

Scott,

Sorry I can't help you out with your question, but maybe you can help me out with one. Where did you get a wide band O2 sensor and how much did it cost? I have heard that it is not a very good idea to try to tune with the stock sensors, so I have thought about installing one too.

Thanks in advance,
Kevin
