Default My trip-meter resets itself whenever I start the car...

Okay folks. I'm in a '99, knockin' on the 60k door and my first "quirk" has reared it's ugly head (not including three carrier & pinion bearing replacements). Like the title reads, whenever I start the car the trip reads zero. Any ideas?

First you mave have a battery problem if not then there is a TSB for this, they will replace the eprom or whole dash (not sure which) with a different one. Most people me included only have this problem when it cold and the car has not been started for a week or two and usually all the gauges will go all the way up then back down when this happens.

I have the same problem with my 99 T/A WS6. It doesn't have to be cold. If I don't start it for about a week, the gauges will all peg and then go back down and the trip will reset. I have just ignored it so far.

I had the same problem a few months back. It ended up being a bad battery. Do some maintenance on your terminals(the positive gets real nasty) and check to see if it goes away. If not go to Autozone and they will test it for free...then buy a new battery like I did.

Same problem, but it's intermitant. Put in a new battery but didn't fix the problem. I was told that it is common with these cars. Post any fix if you figure it out

Here is the TSB about the trip odometer reseting to zero. Its not listed for TAs or Firebirds but thats life. The old nthsa database had the fix listed, but you can find that I think at www.alldata.com. The nthsa webpage is http://www.nhtsa.gov. Hope that helps you guys.
