OK, Bad Pcm in 1998 C5. Good Pcm from donor 1999 Z28. Barring programming, can they be swapped? Hypothetical question here.... <img border="0" alt="[Camaro]" title="" src="graemlins/camaro.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Corvette]" title="" src="graemlins/corvette.gif" />

im gonna say no.
different things on the corvette- like sensors and whatnot that throw info to the onboard computer (if it matters any)
however, i think none of the wires will match up to what they are supposed to. 98/99 f-body pcms are not interchangable. they changed it in 00 though. 00, 01, and 02 are.

No, they are not interchangeable. The 97-98 PCMs have different pinouts than the 99-00. It's significant enough that moving pins around is really a large task, and would require some major wiring PITA work - there are a BUNCH of wiring differences. I would strongly suggest you find a '98 PCM. They're more expensive, it seems, but they're out there.

The dealer told me that 97-98 vettes and 98 f-body were the same. 99 change in pin-outs as previous message states. I haven't tried it, but what is to prevent you from matching your harness to the later PCM pin-out. A wiring diagram shouldn't be that hard to get hold of. Just a thought. Engine controls are the same as far I know.

I just re-read 'Camaroholics' message. I agree with his "PITA" comment but it may be worth the aggravation and think of the fun you would have saying I did this and it works. Being the first does have its PLUS's ++++++++++++++
