Default chip vs ls1-edit

chip is a lot cheaper, ls1 edit does more things, which to buy? If i bought a chip would ls1 edit work with it, or would it just get in the way? Would i need ls1 edit with just bolt-ons?

Well, there was a few 'kits' selling for $15 on ebay. I assume they are chips. They describe it as fooling the engine that the air is cooler than it is, and thus raise timing and increase fuel pressure. What chip would you suggest?

There are no chips for the Ls1, its not like the older setups where you can just replace a prom with a new one. Also fuel pressure is constant on cars from the factory and the computer can not control the fuel pressure.

The other thing you mentioned sound like the Inlet air temperature (IAT) trick, you basically put resistor inline with the IAT sensor and trick the computer into thinking it colder. Not really tuning, actually its bad idea.

Ok, yes i had seen the IAT thing before too. I guess that the hypertech or ls1 edit is the only way then, is ls1 edit worth difference between it and the hypertech?

If your just going to stick with basic performance bolt-ons, then I'ld say just get the HyperTech. My 98 liked the power programming with it. It was also very helpful in lowering the engine temp and when I changed gears.
If your going to do a cam and heads later, then I say go with LS1 Edit. You'll also need AutoTap or equivalent OBD II scanner with the LS1 Edit.

Yeah, i freakin hate to spend the money, but i probably will mod the car futher, with all these freakin new fast cars comming out, i swear the new soccer mom stuff will be 600 hp before too long, Ls1's have got to keep their edge.

just wanted to point out that if he were to buy LS1 edit..there would be no need for a ATAP or Ls1 scanner.

LS1 edit has realtime reading capabilities <img border="0" alt="[Firebird]" title="" src="graemlins/formula.gif" />

LS1 Edit allows you to read your calibration, modify your calibration, and reprogram your PCM with a modified calibration.

No monitoring, you still need a scan tool of some sort to do this - ATAP, EFILive, EASE etc.

Monitor & watch/log parameters, based on the running conditions you observe, make changes in the cal in LS1 Edit, reprogram, begin the cycle again.
