Default Giving up unless I can get your help.......

Several weeks ago I installed the Hooker LT headers and had nothing but trouble since. I had a thread concerning the situation and received input from many of you. However, the problem for misfiring continues.

Cylinder #1 and #5 are the culprits. This is the trouble shooting that I did to try to pin this down. P0300 code appears:

1) Put new spark plugs in during the install. When the misfiring occured I replaced the new plugs with my old ones, as per your advice

2) Replaced the old plug wires with new.

3) Took the coil packs to the dealer. He ran a diagnostic test on them, they are okay.

4) Had the engine wiring harness on the driver side checked out by a maintenance electrician, checks out okay.

What else can be causing the misfire condition? I checked for vacuum leaks, checked for any wires that may have been damaged during the install, can't find anything out of place. I crawled in, under, around looking at anything and everything, all to no avail.

Could the whole problem revolve around the O2 sensors? At this time I have open headers, O2 sensors in the collectors, and O2 sims to replace the rear sensors.

Please, help!!

Did you unplug the sensor at the back of the block (passengers side) by the starter? I know I had to unplug it when I installed headers. If you forgot to plug it in, then there will be problems. I think its the crankshaft position sensor. Might be an idea?????

Perhaps the car is running richer at idle and the plugs are loading up a bit?

I will check the sensor. I did not unplug it during the header install, but at this point I have nothing to loose.

With the misfire condition, is it likely to do internal engine damage by driving the car to see if the possible problem (too rich)is the culprit?

The plug checked okay. I switched the left and right O2 sensors that go into the headers, the same problems exists. The air tube and primary pipes on the passenger side get hot, on the drivers side the air tube and primaries are only warm.

Again, your input is needed and appreciated.

There are several things that can cause 'misfire'.

Spark plugs are one of them.

Injectors are another.

As a last resort, I switched the left and right O2 sims to see if the problem would carry over to the pax side of the car. No luck. The problem still exists on the driver side.

What other possibilities could there be, and what else can I check?

Again, all that I did was install headers from the bottom of the car. I took out the old plugs and replaced with new. Nothing "mechanical" was done to the car during the install.

I am at a loss.....I need more input, please.
