To use the bidirectional controls, it looks like you need the pro version of efilive and the new autotap 2.0 hardware. The $120 just gets you really fast recordings . I can't wait to get it.

Question:
1. I have my laptop mounted in the car at the track to take readings. So with this software will I be able to change settings and then run with the changes while at the track?
2. I bought AutoTap about 3 years ago will I need to buy new hardware to use the new features of EFI Live? (That is making temp. changes to tuning)
3. The $120 version is what is needed to make temp changes to tuning?

1. Edited because I gave wrong info. ooopps
2. No, just upgrade to the new hardware. It cost money but you don't have to buy "new".
3. You have to get the professional version of EFILive. Not sure if the $120 package comes with it.

Depending on the number of overrides, the update frequency is between 5-10 times per second which is not fast enough for race-track or drag-strip use. The spark and fuel settings would lag actual conditions by up to 1/2 a second.
The Spark and fuel maps are designed for altering only one or two parameters under the controlled conditions of a dynamometer - not for a 10 second blast down the 1/4 mile.
While it could be done, I don't recommend it nor do I believe it would be effective.

Autotap is designed for All GM OBD-II vehicles, All Ford OBD-II vehicles and All Chrysler OBD-II vehicles. Autotap provides a comprehensive set of generic and manufacturer enhanced parameters for all of those vehicles.
What that really means is that by purchasing Autotap you get the best of both worlds. You get a comprehensive scan tool package for GM, Ford and Chrysler, plus (for USD $95 or USD $120) you can use EFILiveV5 (with the interface that ships with your Autotap product) for high speed data logging and bi-directional controls for GM/LS1 equipped vehicles.
USD $95 for a version of EFILiveV5 that does not have bi-directional controls.

Add optional EFILive V5 software for vehicles with the LS1 engine.
ATEFISTD EFILive V5 Std software for the GM or “All Manufacturers” V2.x AutoTap hardware $144.95
ATEFIPRO EFILive V5 Pro software for the GM or “All Manufacturers” V2.x AutoTap hardware $194.95
ATEFIV1STD EFILive V5 Pro software for the GM or “All Manufacturers” V1.x AutoTap hardware $120.00
There was no price for Std software on V1.x hardware. I thought you needed V2.x hardware to take advantage of the bi-directional stuff from the Pro software. Where can I find the $90 Std software?
Thanks!

Those prices that were quoted were for pre-release software.
The current prices are available here
http://www.starrperformance.com.au/e...v5/pricing.htm
There is no Pro (bi-directional) version for the AutoTap V1 interface. To use the bi-directional controls of EFILiveV5 you need to obtain an AutoTap V2 interface.

With the EFIlive5 would I be able to raise the idle and maybe lean out the car a bit for when I get it smogged? Gotta do that to get the car to pass smog once I get the cam in..
