11.91 0n custom tune?

Default 11.91 0n custom tune?

Well i was running 12.60 on motor. I went to MTI to get a B1 cam installed. I told them i didn't want timing advanced to much because i was spraying to stages of nitrous. They said the tech wuold be informed. So friday at the track i make a motor pass and run a lowsy 12.80. I could not believe it $1,500 worth of cam and didn't do a dam thing. Then i run a second pass with a 50 shot of juice and hit an unbelievable 11.91 at 114mph w/1.67 60ft. Is 9ths normal on 50shot? Will i hit 10.90 with my second stage 75? Should i be dissapointed because motor pass was slower?

SLP Longtubes w/orp and y-pipe
Yank ST3500 B&M Transcooler
K&N FIPK Kit
Airbag Passenger Rear
15x10/ 15x3.5 Prostars
E.T Steet 26/11.50/15
2 stage NX wet/ Heater/Purge
SLP Fan Switch/ SLP line lock
MTI B1 cam w/LS1 Edit

I can't answer your questions, but in observation, it sounds like that cam needs power to be useful, huh? Maybe some trick heads would wake it up N/A, and give you even greater gains with the spray.

The answer is that you told them to not have as much timing for the spray so youre giving up N/A power because you dont have full advance. Its a trade off. Thats why you gained so much with only a 50 shot. N2O loves less timing. Slap that 2nd stage in there and youll probably be amazed <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

your ET looks very slow considering your mods. you should definately atap your runs and see how much timing you are getting and if KR is present. that is your first step. good luck!!

2MCHPWR I checked KR it was at 11 usally 3 or 0. They it was because sensor was desensitized. My timing was at 22. What can you tell me. I understand what your saying about my time because i have put some money into my project. I'd like to see it run a 12.20 on motor. MTI said i had to sacrafice motor e.t for nitrous gains. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

hi RGVelite,
i get 27.5 of timing at WOT. but my pcm is tuned for N/A, not NOS. i've never run NOS so i don't know what your optimum timing should be. sorry.
but i can tell you that you should be getting ZERO KR with your set-up especially with less timing. i re-read your last post and i don't understand if you said you are getting 11, 3, or 0 KR. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

you have a good combination and should run at least high 11's N/A even with a NOS tune. now we just need to fine-tune it, which is not always easy to do. something is not right in it's present tune. just my $.02. maybe you can post in the forced induction area and ask for optimum tuning for NOS. also post your timing, KR, engine coolant temp, O2 sensors, inj pulse width data from atap so more people can give you suggestions.

more suggestions... do more N/A runs and get a real good baseline. not just one or two runs, but as many as you can get. also post the outside temp. you said you ran 12.6 before cam and 12.8 after cam/tuning. if weather stayed the same, that would be a big problem, but if the weather went to ****, that could explain the loss of ET.

2MCHPWR The weather did go bad and terrible humidity. Down in the Rio Grande Valley weather affects are e.t bad. Just going 300 miles up north i can gain 3 tenths. I guess when i first got the cam the cars idle was to low everything was shaking. I took it back got the idle raised a tad. KR is at 0.0. I ran a 11.70 on the street the other day with the 125 shot. I can't get it to hook on e.t streets with VHT. Any pointers?

well, i'm glad to see you are getting zero KR. good sign. you ran 11.7 at 125 on the street? i guess you used a g-tech to measure that. i know guys that run that ET with your combo minus the NOS. i don't understand how you can't hook with ET streets. are they new? if they are old, they loose their stick. what is your 60' time? do a good burnout, which i'm sure you know. lower the pressure to 12 lbs. i used to run ET drags in my old stang at 10 lbs if traction was not that good. just expect some "wandering" at the top-end with low tire pressure (it's scarey if you aren't prepared for it). if you can't hook up with good ET streets, don't NOS at launch. hit the button in second gear or at the top of first gear. try basic suspension mods; 90-10 front shocks or HALS, remove front sway bar, etc.

also, make sure you are using good gas. try sunoco ultra 94 octane (see my post in this forum about my KR with gulf super, but it was gone with sunoco).
i am guessing your fuel pressure is good, or else you would have seen KR.

i know you're combo, if making 27 to 28 degrees timing, should easily yeild 11.50's N/A in good conditions. now if your timing is only 22, i don't know how much that would affect ET. i still recommend asking some of the NOS guys what their maximum timing is. maybe they run with full timing (27-28); i just don't know. juice isn't my cup of tea. do some research in the NITROUS forum of this site. a dude in this thread runs 25 degrees of total timing: https://ls1tech.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ulti...c;f=4;t=001018

i'm not sure, but i'm thinking you want your timing bumped back up. your knock sensors will pull back timing if there is any sign of detonation. and since you run N/A every once in a while, the stock level timing is beneficial. good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!
