You're going to need both ATAP and LS1edit. You won't know what to change without ATAP, in most cases. Besides, Auto Tap is good to have around. To make changes in your PCM you'll need LS1edit.

To echo DMs comments a little, you won't know the effect of your changes without measuring them in some way. Sometimes that'll mean a scantool like AutoTap, sometimes a WB O2, sometimes a timeslip, etc. Depends on what you're measuring. A scantool is just one more tool in your tool box, but you definitely want one. Randomly making changes w/o some kind of feedback is not a good plan.

I bought LS1Edit and dont have a decent scan tool yet. Until I have one I will only be altering codes, rev limit, idle speed and other static parameters.
I've been trying to hold out for datamaster.

If the car is new... and you go to the dealer... well.. they are not happy campers when they see the PCM has been modded.. .and those nasties may just load the orig. program and you will be back at base one. When you buy the Hyperlink Programmer and load it in... they tell you to make sure you go back to stock setting when going to the dealer... because.. if the dealer puts you back to stock settings... you are screwed with the programmer since it has the stock program in it and will not acces the PCM.... Dealers are trouble... avoid at all costs.....
