just installed headers got service engine light???? Yes i just installed some slp longtubes on my 2001 ta. And the y pipe hits the floor pretty bad and when u get above 3 geand it starts cutting out real rad almost like a bad lmiss. And its showing a service engine light all the time now. I stopped it to saee what it felt like wit em on its a real dud. I need help can the problem be fixed and will it go back to normal. O also i installed the off road pipes for it also and it sounds like ****
Re: just installed headers got service engine light???? did you install 02 sims with your orp, if you didnt that could be why you are getting a ses light. try reseting the computer and see if that gets rid off the ses light.

Re: just installed headers got service engine light???? if you reset the computer it should turn off the ses codes. if you are still having problems then the ses light will come back on. just turn the ignition on but dont start your car. go into the engine compartment and take the covers of the fuse panels on the drivers side. pull the pcm ignition and pcm battery fuses and let the car sit for 3 or 4 minutes. put the fuses back in and turn the ignition off. start the car and see if the ses light is still on. post back and let me know if that helped.

Re: just installed headers got service engine light???? what do you mean by go back to normal....if you mean like back to stock programing and erasing any aftermarket tuning you have then no it will not go back to normal. reseting the computer will not delete tuning you have installed[ie hypertech,ls1 edit] or whatever. all it will do is clear codes you are having. if you drive the car for a few miles sometimes the codes will go away but not always. if you mean go back to normal as in your car running normal again then all you can do is reset you computer and find out. if it doesnt help by reseting your comp then fix that banging y-pipe and go back and check all your plug gaps, inspect all your wires and make sure everything looks cool.

Re: just installed headers got service engine light???? I dont know for sure but I would look for leaks, I killed 4 o2's before I was able to fix my leak, what is the SES code? I got a slow o2 response and once I fixed the leak but the damage was done to the o2 at that point. If you have the 2 rear o2 still you could put them in place if you kill the others. I would also not run with open headers your sensors will be to close to the open air. You will get a SES light for sure. Resetting your computer might not do anything. It would be a good thing to try but if there is a leak it will come back. Look for leaks around the collectors, if there is a leak try some jb weld. From my understand if there is leak up to 10 inchs down the pipe from the o2 you could have trouble.
With headers and after market y-pipe/cat back you will run leaner, if the ltrims get above 25% it will trip a lean SES code.
You really need to find out what the code/codes are. AutoZone will pull the codes for you.
