Default AutoTap: DOS or WIN-XP

Which AutoTap version is better?

What are the strong points of each?

The DOS version is more stable I feel. Use the DOS version.

Remember you can run the DOS version on any Windows platform, including XP.

I do not have first hand knowledge, but I read on this forum of people losing thier PCM module (as it being erased and has to go back to the dealer to be reflashed for $300 or something) due to 1) laptops going to sleep, and 2) problems with XP.
Maybe others (with actual experience) can prove me wrong

Personally Im going with the Scanmaster when I get enough money.

I've never had any luck with the Windows version and data logging. In Windows I sometimes have trouble connecting and I often lockup while logging data. Never have these problems in DOS. So my recommendation would be to view or rerun data in Windows (if you like the interface better), but do your logging in DOS.

Prior to XP and the most recent windows version of Autotap, I was a die hard DOS user. However, now that XP is out, and Autotap has had some time to fix some bugs in the windows version, I have been using the windows version with great results.

Go for the windows version and run it under XP, it'll work just fine.

Anyone got any tips for running it in ME?

I can't upgrade to Xp because one program at work is not Xp compatible so I have to wait till they get that fixed.

When I run AutoTap (DOS) in ME it locks up after I am done. That sucks!

I can only get the windows version to work half the time. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
