I just bought a brand new HP Pavillion 1.1Gz notebook. As it turns out it does not have a serial port. I guess serial ports are going by the way side and USB is taking over. My notebook has 2 USB ports. The problem is that Autotap and LS1 Edit need to have serial ports to connect their cables. What have any of you done to resolve this issue? I see that there are serial to USB adapters out there. Like this one: http://usbgear.com/usa/item_288.html Is that what I need to fix this issue?

Damn.. same problem I had... I have a 1Ghz Pavilion
I bought a Belkin USB Adapter and it works, but they dont have support for DOS under Windows XP
You can also buy the docking station for it and it has a regular serial port

I don't plan on running any DOS versions of these programs. So I should be ok with one of these adapters?

I've run LS1 Edit and Autotap w/my Belkin USB to Serial and it works fine in windows.
