Default Crank Position Sensor Relearn and LS1Edit

I recently had my pcm programmed with ls1edit for my stage II heads/cam install. My pcm ended up being corrupted and a new pcm (brand new could not flash original) needed to be flashed by a dealer first. The new pcm works and the programming is working pretty well.

I had to have the Crank Position Sensor Relearn done after the programming was done. I have read (did a search on here) that with a new pcm this is to be expected.

My question is - Is there any reason when changing the existing program with ls1 edit (let's say for removing random misfire codes, etc..) that the CPS Relearn would need to be done again????

Since this has to be done with a tech II (usually a dealer), it is very hard for me to get this done.

I am sure that most folks using ls1edit are not getting the CPS Relearn code thrown.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Mike

You shouldn't have too. I have programmed my PCM at least 10 times now and never had too.

Are you having too after every program session?

I've only had the pcm programmed the initial time so far. It is throwing a code and I believe it may be a random misfire (I need to get it scanned). When the new pcm was flashed and then the programming was done it did require the CPS relearn.

The tuner said he rarely had a pcm that needed the CPS relearn and thought it might need to be done again if he programmed out the random misfire codes. But he wasn't sure since most pcm programming he has done didn't require the new pcm and CPS relearn.

Its just a concern. From what I've read here it seems like I shouldn't need to, but I needed to ask.

Thanks for the response.

Mike

My friend has set the 1336 code (think that was the number) for the relearn.

It was a brand new PCM and the "tuner" was supposed to take care of the relearn. Well, he didn't. His car idle'd rougher than the stock PCM from his car we put back in. Not sure if it was due to the relearn not being done though.
