Default Different LS1Edit Question

The below section in the Ls1Edit instructions has a friend and I wondering if LS1Edit could be used to steal a car by disabling the VAT. He has an LS1 in a sandrail already and I will also have one in a couple weeks. We sent our PCMs to a guy in Indy to delete the un-need codes. The theft deterent was one of them. I say if somebody had the unlimited $3500 LS1Edit and a laptop, they could steal a car. Is this for just a key or is there another anti theft system in the PCM.

5.1.3 Vehicle Anti-Theft - Toggle
This disables the GM VAT system that uses the Key pellet. This should only be disabled with engine transplants to vehicles that don’t have the key pellet reader.

IMHO, not to burst a bubble or anything, remember that to use the LS1 Edit you would have to be able to turn the car on, either by thievery or with the correct key, or you could not access the PCM. Once you got the PCM powered up in some manner, yes you could deactivate the key security, but you already have the car able to run, so why would someone waste all that time... isn't is supposed to be gone in 60 Seconds... takes a couple minutes to upload to the PCM alone.

Thanks, that was the answer I was looking for. Didn't know it the PCM needed power for LS1Edit to work.

Umm, to contradict that answer, the pellet keeps the car from STARTING. If you have a key with the same cut, it will turn the car to the "on" position it just wont start it. You only need to be able to get the car to the "on" position for LS1edit unless there is something in LS1edit that makes sure the VATS is not triggered at the same time.

I suppose if a thief pops out the switch and get it to the "on" position, he could re-program it. But like another said, it takes a couple minutes to down/up load the program.
